Locking your diary, hiding it under your bed and the handwritten words “keep out” are rapidly being replaced by the not so private form of online blogging. Women all over the world are plastering their most secretive and personal feelings all over the Internet; yet still keep their identities hidden. Why do they feel the need to do so? Possibly a cry for help, wanting their feelings to be acknowledged and to know they’re not alone.
Reading endless blogs by anonymous women I settled with quotes I somehow empathised with. Using self portraiture I put myself in the mind set of these women and photographed myself within that emotion. I drained all personality from the images, leaving almost a blank canvas of emotion, one that we can all relate to.
I have decided to release my work back onto the Internet, where the work originally came from. In the hope that one day the original anonymous bloggers will come across their photographs.
